Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster John Madden died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, the NFL said in a statement. He was 85 years old. “On behalf of the entire NFL family, we extend our condolences to Virginia, Mike, Joe and their families,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said as part of the league’s statement.

The NFL on Wednesday announced it would review the Packers' enforcement of league COVID-19 protocols for unvaccinated players following Aaron Rodgers' positive test for the disease. The league, in a statement obtained by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, said the onus of enforcing league-mandated protocols fell on teams.
