Kyrie Irving’s time with the Nets has come to an end.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Irving and Markieff Morris have been traded to the Mavericks in a blockbuster deal that sends Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith to Brooklyn.
Also included in the deal are multiple future picks that will be sent to the Nets.
The No. 1 pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Irving has career averages of 23.3 points, 5.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. He’s earned eight All-Star selections, three All-NBA selections and won an NBA title with the Cavaliers in 2016.
After only appearing in 29 games last season, Irving has bounced back in a major way this season, posting averages of 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds over 40 games, earning the nod as a starter in the 2023 NBA All-Star game. The deal comes less than 48 hours after Irving requested a trade from the Nets.
